It depends on the size of the area, the material you choose and any extras like steps or walling. As a rough guide, supplied and laid, concrete paving starts from around £40 per square metre, natural stone runs roughly £60–£145 per square metre and porcelain around £70–£130 per square metre. Most domestic patios land somewhere between £2,500 and £6,000 overall. We'll give you a clear, fixed price after a free, no-obligation visit, with nothing hidden.
Both are excellent; it comes down to the look and upkeep you prefer. Porcelain is ultra low-maintenance, colour-stable and resists stains, frost and slips, giving a crisp, modern finish. Natural stone has more character and natural variation, ideal for traditional gardens, and benefits from occasional sealing. Usually not. Most patios are permitted development, but there are a couple of things to watch: if you're laying more than five square metres of non-permeable surface you should drain it to a soakaway or permeable area, you shouldn't raise the ground level by more than 300mm, and listed buildings or conservation areas need a check with the local authority. We'll advise on all of this as part of your design.
Most domestic patios take from a few days to around a week or so, depending on the size, the material and any extra landscaping such as steps or walls. We'll give you a realistic timescale with your quote and keep you updated throughout.
It's easy. A regular sweep and an occasional wash with warm soapy water keeps most patios looking great. Porcelain needs very little beyond that, while natural stone and concrete benefit from occasional sealing to resist stains and weathering. We'll give you simple aftercare advice for the material you choose.
