Block paving offers a classic look and easy repairs, resin-bound is smooth, modern, low-maintenance and naturally permeable, tarmac is durable and cost-effective, and gravel is affordable with excellent drainage. Usually not — but there's a key rule to know. If your new driveway covers more than five square metres of front garden with a non-permeable surface and doesn't direct rainwater to a permeable area, planning permission may be required. Permeable options such as resin-bound, permeable block paving or gravel generally don't need it. We'll advise you on drainage and make sure everything is compliant.
Most home driveways take anywhere from a few days to around a week, depending on the size, the surface and the amount of groundwork involved. We'll set out a realistic timescale with your quote and keep you posted as the work progresses.
